A legend gone to soon

On this Sunday, the world has lost one of the most influential and accomplished player in the NBA. The goat himself, Kobe Bryant also known as "Black Mamba". The two- time Olympic gold medalist and five-time NBA champion and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna were heading to Mamba Academy via helicopter when the tragic event occurred. The private helicopter crashed into a hilltop leaving no survivors. Among those on board was Orange Coast College baseball coach John Alobelli, his daughter Alyssa, and wife Keri. Kobe and Gianna are survived by (Wife/ Mother) Vanessa, and (Daughters/ Sisters) Natalia, 17, Bianka, 3, and Capri, 7 months. Over the course of Bryant's professional career, he has earned accomplishments such as fourth-leading scorer in NBA history with 33,643 career points, 18-time NBA All-Star, twice NBA Finals MVP and an 11-time All-NBA First Team selection. Retiring in 2016, Bryant spent his 20 year NBA career playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. He also is the only player in NBA history to have two jersey numbers, No. 8 and No.24. In 2007, Bryant and his wife Vanessa started the Kobe & Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation which is dedicated to improving the lives of youth and families in need, through encouragement of  staying active in sports and providing financial resources. Kobe Bryant also launched the Mamba Sports Academy which he re-branded from it's initial launch in 2016. The new multi-sport training facility is 100,000 square foot which includes a biomechanics lab, a cognitive training lab, and an esports training ground. Black Mamba has blessed the lives of many young athletes and sport fans around the world. His legacy will continue to live on through the world of basketball and in many of our hearts. Prayers for Bryant's family and all other families involved. R.I.P to the greatest of all time!

  1. I couldn't believe it when I found this out. It was crazy how fast the news was spread on social media. Reading all the stories, listening to the interviews, and watching videos brought me close to tears. Kobe Bryant touched a lot of lives and inspired many during his 41 years. My heart goes out to all the families and friends mourning the loss of their loved ones. This was a great blog dedicated to those who have passed.
