Planning for Spring Break

Image result for spring break 2020As we are mid way into the semester, students are finally getting a well deserved break from school. With spring break approaching, everyone is planning to travel for a week of fun. If you plan on traveling, here are a list of tips to have a fun and safe experience.

Tip #1: Pack well

When packing for your upcoming trip, make sure you include all of the essentials. These essentials include simple hygiene products such as deodorant, tooth paste, tooth brush, mouthwash and soap. Going out is all fun and games, but not so fun when you do not maintain proper hygiene. Retail stores such as Walmart, Target, and Kroger have travel size products available which are fairly priced and abides air travel size requirements. When packing, be sure to pack your suitcase with  many pairs of undergarments such as underwear and bras for emergencies. I would rather have more unused undergarments than having to purchase more.Packing based on the type of environment is essential as well. There is no need to pack a winter coat and boots to travel to florida but you can pack a light item such as a jean jacket incase the weather is chilly one day.

Tip #2: Buy Gift Cards

When I travel to different cities/ states, I like to purchase gift cards to use. For example, instead of using my credit card for uber rides, I purchase an Uber gift card which I can use anytime and it does not expire. When traveling to the beach, you typically leave your things out in the open, while you go enjoy time in the water. Instead of bringing my credit card or debit card, I would bring a reloadable visa gift card. With this, I am able to continuously add money and prevent someone from receiving my banking information. This is a great preventative measure to insure the safety on my banking account. I would prefer my gift card be stolen and used rather than my debit or credit card which could potentially be maxed out and ruin my credit.

Tip#3: Travel with Friends

Spring break can be fun, but it can be even better when you travel with friends. Traveling with a group allows you to share those experiences with other people. They may encourage you to do things you typically would not try such as skydiving, skiing, or even trying new foods. Being in a group also allows everyone to be accountable for one another when going out. It is better to be within a group so people know to look out for you rather than travelling individually. You also can save money by splitting the tab for car rides, hotel rooms, and food/drinks.

Tip#4: Location is Everything

When planning your trip, it is important to choose a location that is close to the entertainment and day life scene. You would rather want to stay at a location that close to the beach than finding somewhere 30 minutes away. This saves money and allows for a more enjoyable experience. Although staying somewhere closer may be more expensive, it is worth it. Staying somewhere close allows you to cut out other expenses such as walking to places which saves money on gas or uber rides. You could also stay out longer because you would not have that far to travel to get back to your final destination.

In general, spring break is an experience for students to have a mini break from reality, and have the time of their lives. By following these tips, I hope you all are able to incorporate them into your upcoming travel experiences.
